This Cookie Policy explains how Tipu uses cookies and similar technologies on the platform at tipu-learn.com. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle any personal data those technologies collect.
We use cookies and similar technologies in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). You can change your choices at any time using the "Manage Cookie Preferences" button in Section 8.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit it. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owner.
We also use closely related technologies — local storage and session storage in your browser — to remember information such as a draft booking or an unsaved lesson report. For ease of reading, we refer to all of these technologies as "cookies" throughout this Policy.
We may use both session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your device for a set period. We may also use both first-party cookies (set by Tipu) and third-party cookies (set by a service we use, such as Stripe or Cloudflare).
3. Why We Use Cookies and Our Legal Basis
We use cookies to:
- Keep you signed in to your account.
- Protect the platform against fraud, abuse, and bots.
- Remember your preferences and settings.
- Provide the features you have asked for, such as draft auto-saving in the booking wizard.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
Under PECR we may use cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested without needing your consent. For all other cookies (functional and, in future, analytics) we ask for your consent when you first visit the platform. UK GDPR provides the lawful basis for processing any personal data those cookies collect — usually consent for non-essential cookies, and legitimate interests for security cookies.
4. Categories of Cookies
We group the cookies we use into the following categories. Only essential cookies are set by default; everything else requires your consent.
- Essential (strictly necessary) — required for the platform to work, including signing you in, processing payments securely, and protecting against bots. These cannot be turned off.
- Functional — improve your experience by remembering settings and saving drafts. You can turn these on or off.
- Analytics — would help us understand how the platform is used. We do not currently use any analytics cookies. If we ever do, we will only set them after you give consent, and we will update this Policy first.
- Marketing — we do not use marketing or advertising cookies and we do not allow third-party advertising networks on the platform.

6. Local Storage and Similar Technologies
We also use your browser's local storage to remember a handful of things that improve your experience. These items stay on your device until you (or we) clear them, and are not sent to our servers.

7. Third-Party Cookies
Some of the cookies set on the platform are placed by trusted third parties acting as our service providers. We do not control their cookies directly, but we choose providers who operate to a high privacy standard:

- Supabase — authentication and session management. See supabase.com/privacy.
None of these providers sets advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies for Tipu.
8. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
When you first visit Tipu, our cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or set your own preferences. You can change these choices at any time using the button below.
Essential cookies cannot be turned off because the platform needs them to work safely. If you reject functional cookies, features such as draft auto-saving will be disabled and any data those cookies stored will be cleared.
9. Managing Cookies Through Your Browser
Most browsers also let you control cookies directly. You can usually find these settings under "Privacy" or "Security" in your browser's preferences. The steps differ by browser:
Blocking essential cookies through your browser may stop you from signing in or using key features of the platform.
10. Cookies and Children
We design our cookie practices with under-18 users in mind. We do not use cookies for behavioural advertising, profiling, or marketing — see our Privacy Policy for more on how we protect children's data and follow the principles of the ICO Children's Code. Where a parent or guardian is managing a child's account, the cookie preferences set on the device apply to that browsing session, regardless of which family member is using it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add or remove cookies or when the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when we last revised it. If we add a new category of cookies (such as analytics), we will ask for your consent again before setting them.
