Using Tipu, whatever you need.
What we aim for
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including the pages you see once you sign in. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most UK organisations work to.
The site partly meets that standard today. The things we know don’t work yet are listed below, and we are fixing them.
What doesn’t work yet
- Some text fades in as you scroll, and stays hidden if the page’s scripts don’t load.
- Until you answer the question about analytics cookies, the box asking it can cover something you have moved to with the keyboard, at the very bottom of a page or in the pages you see once you sign in. (WCAG 2.4.11)
We found these by checking the site’s code against WCAG 2.2. We haven’t yet tested every page with a screen reader, so there may be others. If you find one, please tell us.
Asking for an adjustment
If part of the site doesn’t work for you, or you need something from it in another way, such as a plain-text email instead of a page, email contact@tipu-learn.com with “Accessibility” as the subject. Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way.
The same goes for lessons. Tell us what helps your child learn, before lessons start or at any point: breaks, how instructions are given, how much is on screen, turning on live captions in Teams, or anything else. We’ll talk it through with you and agree what we can do. If it touches on a learning need, we’ll ask your permission first (see our privacy notice), then save it on your child’s learning profile, which their tutor can see in Tipu.
If you’re not happy
If we haven’t helped, you can make a complaint. For free advice about discrimination, you can also contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
